Continuum for harpsichord - György Ligeti
Переглядів 326 тис.15 років тому
"Continuum" for harpsichord solo by György Ligeti, performed by John Hansmann McKean.
Ligeti, il genio della cacofonia. No aspetta, questa é musica avanzata, per palati raffinati.
its like being in a cloud of mosquitos
Suggestion to add to the video description above: the year this piece was composed
Why do you keep stopping? Do you not think they understood rhythm in the 17th century. Your playing makes no sense musically at all.
Comentario tipico de gringo: "this song"
I come back to this every few years, it is an amazing performance, I think it's better than Chojnacka, love it when he pulls out the manual.
How do I play this without the audience thinking I'm just fucking about?
You don't. Play Couperin instead.
Holy shit this is fantastic So fitting for harpsichord too
3:12 like holy shit
This sucks on ice
This is an AWFUL piece of music. It's not even music, it's noise!
Cap
That was one of the most sublime musical moments I've ever witnessed. The way he makes the wood of the instrument sing along, thump along, the percussive pangs of the manuals... And also the contagious exuberance of the performer! Thank you, Mr McKean, and may you continue your visionary artistry! This hereby joins Chojnacka's "Naama" in my pantheon.
Wow that was so cool
Wonderful.
BRAVO !!!
well done
Dreadful.
Absolutely dreadful
Celibidache would love it ...
looks difficult
Grandiose music, grandiosely played!
uah! grandioso! bellissimo! La Musica della meccanica quantistica e dell'universo in espansione... fantastica! uah! 💥💥💥🌜✨🌛💥💥💥
what an awful piece... why is everybody praising it? are you people deaf?... it is as if it would be a vi0l4tion of the poor harpsichord and the harpsichord is screaming for help... makes me sad.
If they can hear in this piece something you cannot, maybe they aren't the deaf ones...
👏👏👏👏
I was hoping he'd actually just play Tears for Fears Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Imagine my disappointment.
3:41 what the hell did he do
top shit here.
it's rock and roll at some moment ^^
is it a training music ?
This tempo suits this piece much better, there seems to be a tendency to play this piece too fast! Now the parts from bar 81 have real impact! Also can we hear you play La Boisson?
cravo e um isntrumento

HEY UA-cam: pro tip. Continuum was written long before Justin Taylor or Alpha "licensed" it to you. John McKean recorded this well before Taylor's cd was made. And for the record, I prefer Mr. McKean's superlative performance.
At some point it stops sounding like a harpsichord whatsoever
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
the beginning sounds like a traffic jam. then it gets worse
Magnifique ! Extraordinaire composition et excellent interprète.
I'm sorry but I simply do not understand this kind of noise. Why use a great Baroque harpsichord and play nonsense?
Simply because it is beautiful
Brilliant performance! Thanks and congrats!
infinitum!
jesus christ.
Awesome.
Thank you for this wonderful and phantastic playing.
I feel sad for those poor people who call this music, listen to it or even spend valuable time to practice such a thing! 20th-century music has roots in communism and pure ignorance. Whoever criticizes it is attacked brutally, humiliated, and isolated from the music society. It is the music of psychopaths.
Brilliant performance!! Bravo
Bravissimo, many thanks from Italy.
you play too slow you need more practice
*Repetitive strain injury intensifies* Jokes aside this piece is great.
This is what resisting torture in Metal Gear Solid 1 felt like
sounds like a musical beehive
no no..
....What was he thinking ???!!! I would be ashamed of claiming such noise as a piece of music.....
